TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - In the wake of the 2018 Asian Games, Jakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno traveled to Moscow, Russia, on Wednesday, August 1 until August 3, 2018, in an attempt to study Moscow's traffic management.
According to Sandiaga, Moscow authorities installed 2,048 integrated CCTV and an additional 1,402 cameras strategically placed throughout the city to support its traffic management center.
"The latest traffic condition is updated every minute or two and can be monitored live through an information screen, radios, official websites, and medias that partners with Moscow's TMC," said Sandiaga Uno on Saturday, August 4, 2018.
Furthermore, during the three-day visit, Sandiaga Uno met with Mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin to further discuss the sister city partnership between Moscow and Jakarta, which Uno said had previously been discussed with Former Jakarta Deputy Governor Djarot Saiful Hidayat.
The element that Jakarta intends to study is how the Moscow TMC applied a special policy to assist Moscow's traffic situation during the 2018 World Cup in Russia. One of it was the public information screen that shows the city's live traffic condition.
Another strategy was the traffic light management that was able to evenly disperse traffic in-and-out of the city. Sandiaga Uno said that the Jakarta administration intends to adopt the same method during the 2018 Asian Games.
