TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The online ride-hailing company Grab launched a new feature called `Anti Tuyul` or anti-ghost system which was installed in the application for its driver partners and at Grab Driver Center facility in Tangerang.
Grab Indonesia Managing Director Ridzki Kramadibrata said the program was aimed to assure the prosperity and productivity of its driver partners. “This is one of Grab’s multiple initiatives to keep enhance the living standard of our driver partners,” he said in a written statement received by Tempo, on Wednesday, August 1.
The newly-built feature, Ridzki explained, was a follow-up campaign dubbed Grab Lawan Opik! (Grab against fake orders) which was established in early 2018. The new feature was installed in the new version of Grab application and that it would block driver partners who used fake GPS application.
To regain the access to their account, the driver partners must delete all fake GPS applications from their smartphone. The fake GPS app commonly known as ‘Tuyul’ or ghost app was used to commit fraud, deceiving the GPS by setting a different location.
Ridzki said the usage of such counterfeiting location application had been harming many parties including the passengers or other driver partners. “Particularly, it is detrimental to those driver partners who work hard in honesty without committing fraud such as installing the Tuyul app.”
Aside from that, the customer would also feel discontented as they must wait longer for the driver to come to pick them up since the driver usually set the location farther than the actual one in the GPS.
“The launching of Anti Tuyul application asserts that Grab commits to ensure they [driver partners] can obtain a fair income and to provide the safest transportation platform for users, including driver partners,” Ridzki said.
