TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - To celebrate Jakarta 491st anniversary, dreamland park Taman Impian Jaya Ancol is offering free entry for visitors on June 25, 2018.

“We want to build up Jakarta anniversary more lively by presenting Kampung Budaya Betawi (Batavia Cultural Village) and offer free entry for a day,” said Taman Impian Jaya Ancol president director Paul Tehusijarana in a written statement, Tuesday, June 19.

Taman Impian Jaya Ancol's spokesperson Rika Lestari said the free entry only applied to visitors, and that vehicles were still required to pay for the tickets as well as the attraction sites.

“It takes effect one day at 06:00 until 18:00 local time,” Rika said.

In Kampung Betawi, visitors will get educational tourism on the initial culture of Jakarta, starting from the history of district/subdistrict names of the capital city displayed on the wall of frame gallery at Pasar Seni (North Art Space).

In the art space, Rika mentioned, a mini stage in the shape of a Betawi traditional house was set up to present Batavian music. In addition, Selasar Kampung Betawi will offer various traditional Batavian culinaries, such as kerak telor (omelet), dodol Betawi (sticky candy), nasi ulam (steamed rice), and Soto Betawi (meat soup).

Rika said to commemorate the anniversary of Jakarta, Kampung Betawi would also present traditional performances, such as lenong Betawi (theater), gambang kromong (music), palang pintu Betawi (ceremony), Batavia house decorations, and an ondel-ondel (giant effigies) parade.
