Police Chief Urges Officers to StayAlert on Terror Act during Eid

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National Police Chief Gen. Tito Karnavian said the security measures during 2018 Eid’s homecoming flow might be different than last year’s considering the officers would also focus on terrorism threat and natural disasters aside from the road and food price.
“We have to stay alert on terrorism threat after bombing terror in Surabaya,” said Tito while inspecting Trans Java toll road in rest area 575 KM, Ngawi, East Java, on Sunday, June 10.
Tito mentioned 96 terrorists under Jemaah Ansarut Daulah (JAD) had been arrested following the bombings. 41 of them were from East Java and 14 were shot dead.
Tito urged the officers to apply body system to anticipate the terror acts. “The officers without weapon equqipment were guarded by armed officers. Keep guarding each other,” he said.
East Java Police Chief Insp. Gen. Machfud Arifin, meanwhile, stated as the efforts to secure Eid’s homecoming flow, he had deployed 17,804 personnel from National Military (TNI), Transportation Agency, Health Agency, and related institutions.
