TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - The Tangerang District Legislator expects the local Manpower Office (Disnaker) to reorganize the foreign workers (TKA), which has recently increased.
“Who said the data that there are 1,824 foreign workers, reports, from factory workers exceed that number," said Chairman of Commission II Tangerang Regency Regional People’s Representative (DPRD) Ahmad Supriyadi in Tangerang, Thursday, April 26.
Ahmad asked the officers to monitor directly by visiting a factory that employs the foreign workers. The step needs to be taken so that the data obtained can be accounted for.
Moreover, based on the report, many foreign workers who have licensed as experts turned out to work as manual laborers. There is also misusing the social visit visa.
Ahmad's statement was in response to the announcement issued by the Tangerang District Manpower Office about foreign workers.
Disnaker said the number of foreign workers currently is not more than 1,824 people. As many as 657 people from China, 223 people from Taiwan, 361 people from South Korea, 45 people from India, the rest from the United States and European countries.
Tifna Purnama, Head of Tangerang District Manpower Division of Labor, said the workers who worked in 585 companies spread across 15 districts. The agency has not verified the data obtained from the Banten Provincial Manpower Office.
The Government issued Government Regulation (PP) No. 20 of 2018 to accommodate the needs of companies concerning experts. The foreign worker is not allowed as a manual laborer but has special expertise in technology required by the company.
"The experts are not owned by Indonesian workers, so it takes the foreign workers on the grounds to be slowly able to switch," said Tifna.
