TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The health condition of the third Indonesian president BJ Habibie in last March was reported began deteriorating due to his leaking heart valve which then he was hospitalized in a hospital in German.
The recent shocking news, BJ Habibie was informed passed away on April 4 through a social media account which previously circulated in chatting application, Whatsapp.
The foundation established by Habibie, The Habibie Center, immediately denied the false news through its official Twitter account.
However, this is not the first time such news spread among the public. Tempo outlined those hoaxes:

1. In 2012: Through a social media Twitter, BJ Habibie was said to pass away after going critical state in a hospital in German. The hoax news then clarified by The Habibie Center via its Twitter account and Melanie Subono, an actress who is also Habibie’s granddaughter.
2. In 2016: BJ Habibie was reported passed away via a broadcast message and as the previous case, The Habibie Center immediately denied the news through its official statement. Even the executive director Rahimah Abdulrahim stated BJ Habibie at the time was giving a general lecture in two cities in German, Hamburg and Muenster.
3. In 2017: At the beginning of the year, some news popped up announcing BJ Habibie passed away in German. The Habibie Center then released the truth that BJ Habibie was attending an award ceremony with Reza Rahadian and Pandji Pragiwaksono.
