Kertajati Airport Can Accommodate All International Flights

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Directorate General of Air Transport announced that Kertajati Airport (KJT) in Majalengka, West Java, can be landed by airplane from all around the world.
"We have informed the international community of the landing procedure in Kertajati per March 1st," said Transportation Ministry's Air Transport Director-General Agus Santoso in Jakarta, March 9.

Agus explained that according to the initial plan, the Kertajati Airport will be used as the embarkation of West Java's Hajj pilgrimages in July this year. Previously, the embarkation of Hajj pilgrimage from West Java have been fully facilitated by the Soekarno-Hatta Airport.
Therefore, the coordinating minister for maritime affairs Luhut Panjaitan, the transportation ministry, and the religious affairs ministry have coordinated several issues about it, he said.
According to Agus, the readiness of the airport reached 100 percent, including the runway, taxiway, apron, control tower, and the airbridge.
The soft launching of Kertajati Airport is on May 1 and the grand launching will take place in June. The departure for the first Hajj flight from the KJT airport is scheduled on July 15.
