West Java BI Prepares Rp9.58tn for Chinese New Year Holiday

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The West Java branch of Bank Indonesia (BI) is preparing Rp9.58 trillion of cash in various bills to anticipate public need during the Chinese New Year's celebration.
The office's group head for Advisory and Economic Development, Ismet Inono, said the amount is 25 percent more compared to what the bank circulated last year, which was Rp7.66 trillion.

Ismet said the amount of bills provided exceeds the projection of what the public will need.
"Our projection for bank money's need in West Java for the Lunar Year holiday is Rp1.53 trillion," he said.
For the Lunar New Year celebration, BI's West Java Office will serve the exchange for damaged money from Monday to Thursday, from 08:00 until 12:00 only.
