TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former Democratic Party Chairman Anas Urbaningrum denies that there were any meetings taking place at Sukamiskin between himself, Setya Novanto, Firman Wijaya, and Saan Mustopa. The three men were accused of conspiring against Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and his son Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono related to the electronic ID card (e-KTP) graft.
Anas claims that he can provide evidence to prove that the meeting at Sukamiskin detention never took place. He suggests people check the CCTV recordings, guest list, and local residents’ testimonies.
“There were no closed meeting, guests cannot come in secret. Especially if it’s a meeting,” said Anas in a letter that was sent to Bobby Triadi, Public Communication Division of the National Leadership of the Indonesian Movement Association on Monday, February 12.
As previously reported, a letter was allegedly written by Mirwan Amir circulated in the mass media. The letter suggested that a meeting took place to conspire against SBY that was attended by Saan Mustopa, Anas Urbaningrum, and Firman Wijaya at the Sukamiskin detention center.
Democratic Party politician Andi Arief tweeted through his personal account @andiarief_ that Firman had conspired to mention SBY’s name in the e-KTP trial.
Anas Urbaningrum defended that the letter is a hoax that was intentionally shared for certain reasons. He said that he would never hurt anyone, especially by slandering SBY.
