TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Medika Hospital doctor dr. Bimanesh Sutarjo was charged for conspiring with defendant Fredrich Yunadi in a plan to help Setya Novanto evade investigations in relation to the electronic ID (e-KTP) graft.

Bimanesh is currently named as a suspect by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

During Fredrich’s trial on Thursday, February 8, he admitted his close ties with Bimanesh who has been his personal doctor for the past 15 years.

“Bimanesh is my personal doctor, it’s been 15 years,” said Fredrich to journalists waiting for him after the trial ended. In the court session, the public prosecutor revealed how both Fredrich and Bimanesh fabricated Setya Novanto’s illness.

According to public attorney Kresno, on November 16, 2017, Fredrich contacted Bimanesh suggesting the doctor have Setya Novanto hospitalized at the Medika Permata Hijau hospital with multiple illnesses. “One of them was hypertension,” said Kresno Anto Wibowo.

At the same day, Fredrich met with Bimanesh at his house located in Botanica Apartment, South Jakarta to confirm that Setya Novanto would be hospitalized. Fredrich provided Bimanesh with a photo of Setya’s medical records from Premier Jatinegara hospital, where Setya was treated several days before.

“There was no referral letter from Premier hospital suggesting him to hospitalize Setya Novanto at another hospital,” said Kresno.

Bimanesh then contacted Medika Permata Hijau hospital’s acting medical service manager, Dr. Alia. He requested Alia to prepare a VIP inpatient room for Setya who would be submitted for severe hypertension even though he never physically checked Setya’s health. Bimanesh also lied that he had already contacted other doctors regarding Setya’s hospitalization.

The prosecutor revealed that Fredrich arrived at Medika Permata Hijau to meet dr. Michael at the emergency room where he requested the doctor to issue an inpatient recommendation letter for Setya Novanto to be hospitalized for a car accident while was at the House of Representative's headquarters at that moment.

Dr. Michael refused to issue that letter considering that a patient must be examined before issuing the letter.

Fredrich then met dr. Alia and ordering her to change the initial diagnosis of severe hypertension to a patient in a road accident.

Bimanesh then issued the recommendation letter himself using an emergency room form letter. He even noted in the letter diagnosing Setya for hypertension, vertigo, and diabetes mellitus, even though Bimanesh had never medically examined Setya Novanto.

When Setya Novanto arrived at the Medika Permata Hijau hospital, he was directly sent to the hospital’s VIP room 323 as ordered by Bimanesh through his recommendation letter when it was not his work shift at that time.

As soon as Setya Novanto was placed in the inpatient room, Fredrich Yunadi held a press conference and told journalists that he was not aware of the road accident his client was involved in. But he actually was present at the Medika Permata Hijau hospital just hours earlier.
