TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno had just agreed to run motivational sessions for the street vendors in Tanah Abang, to answer questions and challenges from one of the Chinese Indonesian Association (PIT) member, Adian Radiatus.
“I saw everything with my own eyes. During my travel in Jakarta and also at this time around. I really agree with the motivational sessions for the street vendors, but please do it not just for the street vendors, almost all of the elements of society needs to be motivated,” said Sandiaga Uno at Central Restaurant Petojo, Jakarta, on Sunday, February 4.
Earlier at the same location, Adian Radiatus said that two days ago in the afternoon after sunset, he saw that garbage management in Tanah Abang area were very irregular.
“I may suggest that all of the street vendors to be gathered around, do not allow them to trade for a day, so we could brief and motivate them to perform the three principles such as order, cleanliness and beauty,” said Adian.
Sandiaga replied to Adian`s comments: “As for the garbage management, it is true enough, I cannot work alone, I have always said that the government cannot work alone, we must gather all communities, all elements of society, and change their mindset, especially from our middle-class friends, their income has increased, but they are still littering everywhere,” said Sandiaga Uno.
Sandiaga Uno hoped that the sessions could reduce the 7,000 tons garbage per day in Jakarta. He considered that there should be a movement to pick up the garbage, a cleanup day movement.
