7 Parties in North Sumatra Unqualified For 2019 Election

TEMPO.CO, Medan - The North Sumatra Province`s General Election Commission (KPU) stated that seven provincial political parties in the region are unqualified as the candidates for 2019 election.
The seven political parties that are unqualified are the National Mandate Party (PAN), Gerindra Party, Hanura Party, Democratic Party, Golkar Party, National Awakening Party (PKB), and the United Development Party (PPP).
PAN was declared unqualified because it has not fulfilled the representation percentage. Besides, the Population Identity Number (NIK) in the identity cards of the chairman and the secretary were different with the ones that were registered in the political party information system (Sipol).
Gerindra, Hanura and Golkar Party are also unqualified because the number of 30 percent of women representation in the administrator has not been fulfilled. Democrat Party was declared unqualified because its chairman JR Saragih was not present when the factual verification was done by North Sumatra KPU.
PKB was declared unqualified because the NIK in the KTP’s (ID cards) secretary, namely Jansen Harahap is different with the registered data through Cipol. PPP is unqualified because the KTP’s chairman and the treasurer are different. PPP is also considered not qualify the percentage of women representation in the administrator.
The qualified political parties are PDIP, Crescent Star Party (PBB), Justice and Unity Party of Indonesia (PKPI), Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), and National Democratic Party (Nasdem).
PPP North Sumatra Secretary Jafaruddin Harahap said, in fact, his Islamic political party has fulfilled the women representation percentage, even up to 32 percent. However, his party failed to present the women politicians who were the administrators when welcoming the KPU team that run the factual verification.
However, PPP North Sumatra will improve all the unfulfilled requirements at the latest at February 3 as the final deadline.
