TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Flag carrier Garuda Indonesia Airways will open a new route that flies directly between Makassar and Palembang. The new flight will be available starting from January 17, 2018.
Garuda Indonesia's marketing and information technology director Nina Sulistyowati said in a written statement on January 14 that the decision is a step in increasing the market potential of the domestic flights segment.
"Passengers will no longer need to make a stop in Jakarta when traveling between Palembang and Makassar," she said.
Passengers boarding flights between Makassar and Palembang will fly on a 96-seater Bombardier CRJ-1000 aircraft. Garuda schedules four flights in one week every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
