Bandung Mayor Ridwan Kamil

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A group of youth in Bekasi, called Generasi Riwan Kamil Milenial or Genkamil, declared their supports for Bandung Mayor Ridwan Kamil to run as a candidate in the upcoming 2018 West Java Gubernatorial Election. The declaration was conducted by cleaning up Kalimalang River.

The occasion is scheduled to be held in front of the Bekasi Legislative Council (DPRD) building today at 12 p.m. However, there has been no report that Ridwan will attend the event.

“There will be a convoy of 16 decorated inflatable rafts at Kalimalang River,” event coordinator Darul Mutaqin told Tempo on Saturday, December 2, 2017.

Darul explained that the declaration of supports for Ridwan Kamil was initiated by a group of volunteers from the millennial generations who support Ridwan in the election. Darul claimed that the group has gathered supports from youth communities, students’ organizations, environment activists, and professionals in Bekasi.

Darul claimed that more than 200 people have confirmed their attendances to declare the supports.

During the convoy, Genkamil will release hundreds of guppies in hopes that the River will become the source of living under Ridwan Kamil’s leadership.
