TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Global Hospitality Marketplace Airbnb denied an allegation saying that the company has not paid any taxes.
“We comply with applicable regulations and pay all taxes across the world,” Mich Goh, head of public policy Airbnb Regional Southeast Asia, said in a press release received by Tempo on Thursday, November 30.

“Airbnb has collected and paid taxes to more than 340 communities around the world, and guests have paid travel and tourism taxes amounting to Rp6.9 trillion or US$510 million,” Goh revealed.
Goh claimed that over the last year, Indonesian hosts have averagely earned Rp28.4 million (US$2,100). The total amount of income earned by all hosts stands at Rp1.15 trillion or US$84.6 million.

Earlier, Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) chairman Hariyadi Sukamdani asked the government to ban foreign online travel agents (OTA), including Airbnb. Hariyadi alleged that the foreign OTAs have not paid taxes.
