TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Garuda Indonesia's low-cost carrier subsidiary Citilink Indonesia received its 50th aircraft, the A320, at Airbus' headquarters in Toulouse, France on October 25. Company director said the plane will be used to fly regional routes.
"This is our 'milestone fleet strength' to prepare for expansions to the Southeast Asian region," president director Juliandra Nurtjahjo said.
Juliandra said that having 50 aircraft is the minimum number of planes an airline needs to reach all parts of an archipelago such as Indonesia. Citilink, he said, is preparing to fly new routes to and from the South Asian region and the Pacific.
The Citilink A320 Neo is a narrow body aircraft from Airbus with a capacity of 180 seats. The plane was expected to arrive at Soekarno-Hatta International airport this morning.
With the arrival of this fleet, Juliandra is confident Citilink will achieve its target to fly 12.4 million passengers until the end of 2017.
