Jokowi to Inspect Oil Palm Replanting Project in Musi Banyuasin

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo is slated to inspect an oil palm plantation replanting pilot project in Musi Banyuasin, South Sumatra.
Musi Banyuasin Regent Dodi Reza Alex said that several sub-districts will be subject to oil palm replanting the pilot project in the next couple of years, including the sub-districts of Lalan, Babat Supat and Keluang.
Some 4,446 hectares of land will be used for the project. “We have been waiting for the replanting [project] because affects productivity,” he said.
The pilot project is financed by the Oil Palm Fund Management Agency (BPD PKS) amounting to Rp25 million per hectare. Landowners are preparing Rp25 million as collateral.
In addition, replanting participants are required to attach land titles to provide proof of ownership. The program that started in the past few years is aimed at increasing non-cooperatives fresh fruit bunches production.
