TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Attorney General M. Prasetyo says that his office has sent a senior prosecutor to accompany Siti Aisyah. The prosecutor will provide insights for the attorney that is currently representing Aisyah.

Siti Aisyah is an Indonesian citizen accused of being responsible for the assassination of Kim Jong Nam, a half-brother of North Korea leader Kim Jong Un.

“The prosecutor will accompany Siti Aisyah in Malaysia for a month,” said Prasetyo during a hearing with House of Representatives Legal Commission on Wednesday, October 11.

Regarding the rare toxic chemical used in Kim Jong Nam’s murder, Prasetyo said that the Attorney General’s Office views that Siti Aisyah was not made aware that she was in possession of it.

Siti Aisyah and Vietnamese Thi Huong are being accused of murdering Kim Jong Nam in a Malaysian airport on February 13, when Kim was transiting to Macau. A CCTV footage showed both defendants smearing the VX agent to Kim’s face, which eventually killed him just 20 minutes after the initial contact with the chemical.

In her defense, Siti Aisyah claims that she was asked to participate in a prank video with Kim Jong Nam as the target.
