TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Metro Police Special Crime Investigation Directorate continue to collect data in the investigation into the issuance of permit for and management of Jakarta Bay. The probe was started when the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan reportedly would repeal a moratorium on the reclamation megaproject.
Police have requested data from the Marine and Fishery Ministry, Environment Ministry, Coordinating Maritime Ministry and reclamation project detractors, among others.
Jakarta Metro Police spokesman Adj. Sr. Comr. Sutarmo said yesterday that police suspect that permit issuance and development of Jakarta Bay reclamation violate the laws.
He added that police want to confirm whether the Jakarta Bay reclamation moratorium repeal was the right decision. Jakarta Metro Police Special Crime Investigation Director Sr. Comr. Adi Deriyan Jayamarta earlier said that his unit had been conducting an investigation since September 14. He said that they launched the probe even though no one had filed a police report.
