TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Survey Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) says t he public approval of Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Jusuf Kalla administration has continued to rise during the past three years.

“The public approval for the performance of the current administration continues to increase each year,” said political and international relations researcher Arya Fernandes today on September 12.

The public approval of Jokowi administration in 2015 was at 50.6 percent and 66.5 percent in 2016. This trend continued in 2017 with a slight increase to 68.3 percent.

The poll involved 1,000 respondents that are over the age of 17 years old in Indonesia’s 34 provinces through random sampling, the interview was conducted throughout August 23-30, 2017. It has a 3.1 percent margin of error at a 95 percent approval rating.

The public approval improved in three main areas namely the economy, jurisprudence, and maritime affairs. The approval rating towards Indonesia’s economy increased by 56.9 percent in 2017. Meanwhile, rating in jurisprudence improved by 64 percent due to the government’s support for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

“The approval rate improved significantly in the infrastructure area such as sea toll road and harbors,” said Arya regarding the 75.5 percent increase in public approval of Jokowi administration in maritime affairs.
