TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Director of Jakarta Legal Aid (LBH) Alghiffari Aqsa said that the police reports made against Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigator Novel Baswedan are not seeking for justice. “Its intention is to discredit [Novel Baswedan],” said Aqsa on Wednesday, September 6.
Aqsa argues that the reports against Novel that were made by Police Commissioner Erwanto Kurniadi and KPK Director of Investigation Aris Budiman are merely attempting to redirect attention away from the acid attack made against Novel Baswedan, which allegedly implicates a police general.

Erwanto Kurniadi doesn’t agree with the statement that was said by Novel in a special report that was published in Tempo magazine. “As an investigator who worked in KPK, [Erwanto] was offended,” said Jakarta Metro Police Spokesman Commissioner Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono on September 6.
Police received the report on September 5. Argue explained that Erwanto felt offended by a sentence contained in an article on page 36 at Tempo Magazine which stated Novel’s disagreement with Aris’ plan to recruit police investigators who once worked for KPK. Novel argued that they had a low-level integrity.
Meanwhile, Aris Budiman was offended by the email that was sent by Novel Baswedan, who protested against Aris’ intention to recruit investigators from the police institution.
