TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Yamaha and Honda continue to become the leading supporters of the Indonesian motorcycle assembly export.
Last month’s motorcycle export performance recorded an increase of 82.86 percent or 38,836 units compared to the same period in 2016 which managed to export 21,237 units.
Based on the data provided by the Indonesian Motorcycle Industry Association (AISI) on Monday, September 4, the total export during the January-July period reached 223,929 motorcycles. It is an increase of 35.52 percent compared to last year’s 165,229 units during the same period.
Astra Honda Motor’s total export reached 64,737 units until the seventh month of 2017, or a 73.57 percent increase compared to last year’s achievement. This positive trend of motorcycle exports was also felt by TVS Motor Company Indonesia and Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing.
Meanwhile, Suzuki Indomobil Sales and Kawasaki Motor Indonesia were not as fortunate as other manufacturers. Both Suzuki and Kawasaki recorded a 15.57 percent and 59.81 percent drop respectively.
