TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National Monument’s (Monas) Pesona Dancing Fountain is back in operation and it is officiated by Jakarta Governor Djarot Syaiful Hidayat.
"The repair to Pesona Monas Dancing Fountain or now called as Monas Jakarta Fountain did not use the regional budget (APBD), but it was a collective effort made by Monas mechanical electrical workers unit (UPK Monas)," Djarot said in Jakarta on Saturday (12/8).
Pesona Monas Fountain was officiated in 2005, and it was built in 1974 when Governor Ali Sadikin heldoffice, but the operation was ceased in 2009.
Later, the water was drained to cut on mosquito breeding and to clean the pump. The pump was reignited, and this continued to an effort to operate the fountain. Such an initiative was continued during Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama’s office.
People visiting Monas can now enjoy the dancing fountain with beautiful colors and accompanied by national songs and other songs on Saturday and Sunday at 07:30 and 08:30 in the evening respectively. Djarot also asked the visitors to keep the recreational facility clean.
