TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - In response to a meeting between former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono or SBY and Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) party Prabowo Subianto, President Joko Widodo or Jokowi asserted that there is no absolute power currently being practiced in Indonesia.
Jokowi added that the role of government supervision is constantly practiced by the press and mass organizations.

“[The government] is completely supervised. The House of Representatives is also supervising,” President Jokowi said on Friday, July 28.
On Thursday evening, July 27, SBY, who is the chairman of the Democratic Party, ensured that he and Prabowo will take the role in supervising the current government. Both SBY and Prabowo agreed that the current government must not abuse its authority.

President Jokowi seemed cautious in responding to an accusation that he was abusing his power by issuing the Government Regulation in Lieu of Law (Perpu) on Mass Organizations. Jokowi claimed that the bill has been deliberated thoroughly.
