Portobello Mushrooms for Cancer Protection, Treatment

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Portobello mushroom is one of the most widely consumed mushrooms in the world. It is a type of big-sized button mushrooms with soft and succulent texture and great flavor.

American doctor Dr. Josh Axe said that among other mushrooms, Portobello is known as natural cancer fighter and protector of immune system.

"Portobello is also a good source of good phytochemicals such as L-ergothioneine and conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) that have properties to prevent cancer and other anti-aging properties," Axe shared in his website Draxe.com.

Axe explained that the anticancer properties of Portobello mushroom extracts due to its phytochemical substances have positive effects to cell death, growth and proliferation of healthy cells, lipid metabolism and immune response.
