TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Police arrested dozens of teenagers having a drinking party on Margonda Raya street on Saturday at dawn (17/6). The police also confiscated ciu, (local liquor]) a byproduct of ethanol.
Depok Police deputy chief Ajun Comr. Sr. Faizal Ramadhani said that the police carried out a large scale patrol called cipta kondusif operation to eradicate thugs.
"The total of arrested thugs in the operation this morning was 48 people. 23 of them are still 14-15 years old," Faizal said.
In fact, 6 female teenagers who also took part in the liquor party were also arrested. In addition, this joint operation with Sabhara Jaya Directorate and Metro Jaya Police Brigade unit secured 11 members of mass organization (ormas) who joined the party in Margonda. The police also arrested two thieves and four people committing illegal parking.
Depok Police Operation Division head Comr. Agus Widodo said that as instructed by Metro Jaya Police chief, police are required to carry out raid operation cipta kondusif. The reason is due to the the rising number of crimes as Eid gets closer. "We will regularly carry out this operation until after Eid," he explained.
