TEMPO.CO, Tulungagung - Tulungagung Regent Syahri Mulyo ordered to shut down YES cafe and karaoke after it allegedly provided strippers.
The entertainment facility situated behind car mechanic shop and car wash were raided by East Java police on Wednesday, May 3.
The police apprehended 40 women, who were suspected as strippers. These women were brought from different cities to work as karaoke hostesses, but the police claimed that they were also engaged in a sexual transaction.
“This very day I ordered Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) to seal and close the place,” Syahri said Friday, May 5.
Syahri explained that closing down the karaoke place is temporary to facilitate investigation process, but once it is proven to facilitate prostitution, Tulungagung government will permanently shut the place down.
In the meantime, YES Café Karaoke spokesperson Orins denied offering sexual services as accused. Orins explained that he has complied with local regulation in running his business. He claimed that nobody in his karaoke place has engaged in striptease dancing.
East Java Police Crime Investigation Unit Director Comr. Sr. Agung Yudha said that his unit arrested 40 women aged 18-25 and three pimps. When they were arrested, he said, they were strip dancing in the rooms.
He explained that the guests were charged Rp700,000 to watch the strippers. In addition to striptease dancing, the strippers are suspected of offering sexual services.
