TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Surabaya police have broken up a gay party at a hotel, arresting 14 men who were found in two rooms. The party took place at the Surabaya Oval Hotel on Saturday night.

The Surabaya police chief detective Sr. Comr. Shinto Silitonga said on Sunday that the police broke into the executive rooms after receiving reports from locals.

There, the police found dozens of men have started partying, one gay man was found fully naked.

The men told police that the party was held in two phase in one large room and number of other smaller rooms. The first phase was in the main room where they would look for a suitable partner among. When they found one, the homosexuals would go to the one of the smaller room to continue the party in privacy," he said.

"The main party was held in the large main room, while the smaller rooms seem to have been used as a place to continue the party in privacy," he said.

Shinto said eight of the 14 men have been named suspects. The other six are held as witnesses because they did not take part in the party but were found watching a pornographic video. "The party provided porn movies to arouse the guests," he said.

One of the eight suspects is a man from Jombang who initiated the party.

"The suspect, An, gave out invitations through social media and asked participants to pay between Rp50.000 to Rp100.000. The rooms at Oval Hotel are booked under his name," Shinto added.

The police confiscated a USB flash drive containing pornographic films, the television sets at the hotel, the hotel sheets and beddings, and several tubes and bottles suspected to contain lubricating gels and oils.

The suspects are charged with violating articles 32, 33, and 34 of Law No.44/2008 on Pornography, and article 45 of Law No.11/2008 on Electronics Information and Transaction.
