TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A Cessna plane owned by PT Spirit Avia Sentosa and piloted by Rio Pasaribu reportedly crashed in Papua about five miles from Oksibil, Pegunungan Bintang Regency, on Wednesday, April 12, 2017.
Jayapura Search and Rescue Agency head Suyatno, as quoted by Antara, said that his agency is still preparing a team to conduct a search in Oksibil.
"A search and rescue team will be deployed on a Trigana's aircraft to Oksibil," Suyatno said, adding that the search will be conducted on Thursday, April 13, 2017.
The Associated Mission Aviation (AMA) has commenced a search and rescue mission. The crashed aircraft lost contact after taking off from Tanah Merah, Boven Digul Regency, to Oksibil.
To this date, the AMA pilot has not found any signs of the ill-fated aircraft. Suyatno revealed that the crashed aircraft carried food supplies without any passengers onboard.
"There's no passenger on that plane," Suyatno said.
