Indonesia's Veterinary Medicine Export Reaches Rp18.5 Trillion

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Director General of Animal Health and Husbandry, I Ketut Diarmita, revealed Indonesia’s veterinary medicine’s export value throughout 2016, which reached Rp18.514 trillion with an export volume of 459,902 ton.
The export value increased from Rp7.843 trillion and export volume of 211,631 ton from the previous year. “This means that there’s a Rp10.671 trillion increase in veterinary medicine export value or a 136 percent increase,” I Ketut said on Wednesday, April 5, 2017.
Pharmaceutical and premix import stock reduced 17.5 percent. The import volume of veterinary medicines in 2016 amounted to 297,468 tons, which went down compared to the previous 395,656 tons. “The export value of comestibles and veterinary medicines is dominated by veterinary medicines. It’s the favorite and has contributed to a large portion of state income,” I Ketut said.
The Indonesian government hasn’t only improved its quantity but also the quality of the local veterinary medicine industry, from manufacturers, distributors, up to the farmers that use the product. The Government continues to supervise veterinary medicine products to be able to comply with the standard of the international Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
