TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan has symbolically paid Rp2.8 billion to clear 63,019 square meters of land in in Mandalika Special Economic Zone (SEZ), Lombok.
“I expect it [land clearing] to complete this month,” Luhut said in an official statement of the Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs on Monday, April 3, 2017.
As such, the Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) can now develop a MotoGP circuit in Mandalik SEZ. The circuit will be built by a French firm Vincy.
“The ITDC chairman said that almost Rp6 trillion will be invested by a French investor to build a hotel and MotoGP circuit. It’s confirmed, it’s been signed by the President,” Luhut said. The circuit is expected to provide added value to Mandalika SEZ.
Earlier, the Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) said that a MotoGP circuit will be built in Mandalika SEZ following a meeting with MotoGP designer, developer, and operator on January 20.
The circuit will have a capacity of 50,000 spectators and is expected to complete by 2019. It will be the first ever MotoGP street circuit.
