TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs requested evidence of Sri Rabitah's kidney removal operation that took place at a hospital in Doha, Qatar. The 25-years-old migrant worker claimed that her kidney was removed without her consent while she was working as a migrant worker in Qatar.
"We're currently asking for the evidence," said Foreign Affairs Ministry's spokesmanArrmanatha Nasir on Tuesday, February 28, 2017.
Arrmanatha said that the request was made by the Indonesian Embassy to the hospital in Doha. Based on the hospital's statement, it is said that Sri did actually come to the hospital and was administered for a surgery. However, the hospital stated that the operation was carried out based on the patient's consent.
According to Arrmanatha, the Indonesian Embassy has asked for Sri Rabitah's medical records to check whether matches the hospital's statement.
"We can take action after we have gathered all the facts," Arrmanatha said.
The Indonesian Embassy has also called on the agency that provides migrant workers to Qatar. Based on the agency's statement, Sri arrived at Doha on July 2014 and returned to Indonesia on November 2014. "During her stay in Doha, she never reported or listed herself to the Indonesian Embassy, which is why the Embassy doesn't have her record," Arrmanatha said.
