TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Police spokesperson Comr. M. Sungkono said that Amirulloh Adityas Putra, 18, a first-year student at the Maritime Higher Education Institute (STIP) in North Jakarta, was killed after being assaulted by his seniors.
"The assaulters hit victim's stomach, chest and [upper stomach] using their bare hands," Sungkono said at the North Jakarta Precinct Police on Wednesday, January 11, 2017.
Sungkono explained that Amirulloh died on Tuesday night, January 10, 2016 at around 11:30 PM Western Indonesia Time (WIB) in the campus' dorm.
Sungkono revealed that Amirulloh was beaten by four senior students, namely Sisko Mataheru (19), Willy Hasiholan (20), Iswanto (21), and Akbar Ramadhan (19).
"They beat the victim repeatedly until Amirullah collapsed," Sungkono added.
The incident occurred when Sisko planned to bully Amirulloh after a drum band practice. At around 10 PM WIB, four senior students asked six freshmen, including Amirulloh, to gather in room M-205 located on the second floor of Dormitory ring 4.
They later beat the freshmen in turns on their stomach, chest, and epigastrium. Amirulloh was beaten for several times.
"Willy's last punch caused the victim to collapse," Sungkono explained.
The students picked up the victim and lied him down on a bed. They panicked and reported the incident to their seniors.
"The doctor who checked on the victim's condition declared that he had died," Sungkono said.
Police are still gathering information from the assaulters and witnesses. Sungkono revealed that the incident was not the first time to occur.
"In 2012 and 2013, there were similar incidents killing students of the school," Sungkono revealed.
