Indonesia Books US$2.98 Million Worth of Transactions at JITF

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Five companies and three importers of Indonesian products managed to book a total transaction value of US$2.98 million at the 2016 Jeddah International Trade Fair (JITF) held from December 20 to 23, 2016.
"The transaction value increased by almost 400 percent compared to that in 2015 at US$500,000," Gunawan, director of Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (IPTC) at the Indonesian Consulate General in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, said in a press release, as quoted by Bisnis.com on Monday, December 26, 2016.
During the trade fair, Indonesian companies offered various products, such as food and beverages, jewelries, and others. Agus Ariandy Sijoatmodjo, director of PT Indomop Multi Makmur from Tangerang, West Java, said that it was the first time he participated in the trade fair.
"Until the trade fair was almost closed, buyers kept coming showing their interest to import our products. They said that the products are suitable to clean mosques in Medina," Agus said.
Nahdi Fitria, owner of Nahdi Jewelri, said that she was satisfied with the Saudi Arabia market, and she was happy to learn Arabs taste of jewelry.
"I can learn about their taste, particularly in terms of designs and materials. They also compare the quality of the same products and their prices offered in other places," Nahdi explained.
Arabian traditional clothes made in Tasikmalaya, West Java, had also attracted visitors’ attention. As much as Rp 13 billion (US$1 million) worth of transaction was booked for the products.
Importer Sami Alkathiri that markets Indonesian food and beverages recorded an increase in their sales. Each month, the importer booked more than Rp 4.9 billion (US$376,900) worth of sales.
