TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani said that funds to develop e-commerce sector can be deducted from the State Budget. The government had recently decided to focus on developing e-commerce by issuing the 14th economic policy package.
"Funds in the State Budget, if it is for financing purposes, whether through micro credits that applies subsidized rate, can be allocated partly for start-ups," Sri said at the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs office on Friday, November 11, 2016.
However, Sri added, there would be a selection on start-ups eligible for the State Budget fund.
"About the scheme required [for the disbursement of the fund], will be coordinated with the Telecommunication and Information Minister [Rudiantara]," Sri added.
Previously, the government had announced the 14th economic policy package on e-commerce roadmap that is expected to encourage the expansion and improvement of the public’s e-commerce activities.
"The aim of the policy package, the policy roadmap is to encourage expansion and improvement of the public's economic activity across all regions in Indonesia efficiently and global interconnection to allow wider coverage and further reach of [e-commerce] activities," said Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution.
The roadmap is also expected to provide legal certainty and ease of doing business in the e-commerce sector, which hopefully, can help to accelerate the National Electronic-Based Trade System in the 2016-2019 period.
