TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Subekti, a Tempo photographer who witnessed a series of explosions in front of Sarinah Plaza, confirmed that an explosion occurred at a Police outpost at Jalan Thamrin in front of Sarinah Plaza at around 10:50 AM Western Indonesia Time. The explosion injured a police currently stationed in the outpost. "The police was badly injured," Subekti said.
Subekti added that three other people of unknown identity can be seen lying down on the road. People inside the Sarinah Plaza immediately rushed out after hearing the explosion.
Five minutes away from the first explosion, shootings were heard in the area. According to Subekti, the shots were aimed at the people crowding in the explosion scene. “A man in a blue shirt was shot in the chest and head, he immediately fell,” Subekti said.
Subekti said that after the shooting, an unknown individual suspected to be the shooter, was seen running towards the National Monument area. According to Subekti people around the area tried to pursue the suspect.
Five minutes later, another explosion was heard from an SUV parked on the street in front of Sarinah Plaza.
