Police Arrest Go-Jek Driver for Selling Drugs

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of Criminal Unit of Tanjung Duren Sector Adj. Comr. Antonius said that the police had arrested a drug dealer, who is also a GoJek (online-based motorcycle taxi) driver.

“We’ve closely watched him for a long time,” Antonius said on Saturday (3/10).

According to Antonius, the drug dealer, named Supriyono, has already been on the police most wanted list because had been known as a drug dealer in Kampung Ambon. However, Antonius said that the police must have strong evidence to arrest the 39-year-old man.

Eventually, after investigating Supriyono’s activities and watch him closely, the police arrested him on Jalan Raya Pedongkelan in Cengkareng, West Jakarta.  Supriyono was arrested along with evidence in the form of two packages of shabu-shabu (crystal methamphetamine) weighing 0.32 grams respectively.

“He kept the shabu-shabu inside a cigarette box,” Antonius said, adding that Supriyono sold 1 gram of shabu-shabu at Rp1.4 million.
