TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President elect Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo hoped that security measures from the Presidential Security Detail (Paspampres) would be eased, saying that with the loosening of the security measures, he would be able to interact with people from all walks of life.
"[With the loosening security measures] I will still be close to you all [the press] and the people but the condition will remain secure," Jokowi said at Jakarta International Expo, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.
The security measures provided for Jokowi will not be different from the ones provided for President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY).
The protection consists of 37 members of Paspampres with seven security cars and three voreijder motorbikes.
However, Jokowi said seven cars were a bit too much and he asked the Indonesian Military (TNI) Chief General Moeldoko to reduce the number of cars. "Three cars are enough." Jokowi said.
In terms of the number of Paspampres members, the president elect said to think it over since the personnel are also assigned to safeguard his family. Jokowi has yet to be acknowledged when the Paspampres members start providing security measures for him.
In the meantime, Vice President elect Jusuf Kalla has already been provided security measures by Paspampres members starting yesterday.
