TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will extend the detention of Karawang Regent Ade Swara.
“I’m on my way to the KPK headquarters to accompany the regent and his wife to sign the detention extension letter,” said Haryo Budi Wibowo, the lawyer of the regent and his wife, on Tuesday, August 5, 2014.
Adi Swara and his wife, Nurlatifah, have been named as suspects by the KPK in an extortion case involving the release of a permit for spatial planning in Karawang, West Java. The KPK arrested both of them in Karawang on Thursday night, July 17, 2014.
The KPK said Ade and his wife had violated Article 12 e or Article 23 of the Corruption Eradication Law juncto Article 421 juncto Article 55 of the Criminal Code on collective extortion.
After being arrested, Ade has been detained at the military police prison in Guntur while his wife at the KPK headquarters in Kuningan, South Jakarta.
