TEMPO.CO, Yogyakarta - The Yogyakarta Study Forum League (LFSY) has called on the authorities to reveal and settle cases of human rights violators in Indonesia.
"Up until now, there are still cases of human rights violations in the nation that have not been uncovered," said LFSY coordinator Peni Wahyudi on Tuesday.
He said cases that need to be solved are the deaths of human rights activist Munir, labor activist Marsinah, and Harian Bernas journalist Fuad Mohammad Syafruddin a.k.a. Udin.
"Marsinah was murdered when she was fighting for the rights of laborers. Up until now, the case has disappeared without any further explanation. The same goes for the murders of Munir and Udin," he said.
He added that Law No. 39/1999 on human rights ensures the right to live and freedom of opinion to all. Yet this no longer applies as cases of human rights violations have not been revealed up until now.
Therefore he urged law enforcers to immediately solve past human rights cases. The government also needs to provide rehabilitation and reconciliation for victims of human rights violations.
