TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted that the number of tourist arrivals in Indonesia reached 717.8 thousand visits in July 2013, down by 9.09 percent compared to the previous month. On a year-on year basis however, the number shows a 2.37 percent increase.
BPS Chief Suryamin said that the biggest decline was posted by the Husein Sastranegara Airport in Bandung, West Java with 53.53 percent. The second biggest decline was posted by the Port of Tanjung Balai Karimun in Riau Islands, with the number of visits dropping by 48.58 percent.
Based on the total number of tourist arrivals in July 2013, BPS reported that there were five countries with the greatest number of visits. The first is Australia with 89,944 visitors, followed by Singapore (87,782), China (78,843 people), Malaysia (71 970) and Japan (41,399).
