TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Malaysian badminton player Lee Chong Wei won the men's single in the Superseries Premier Indonesia Open 2013 tournament held at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Jakarta on Sunday, June 16. Lee, the world's number one badminton player, easily beat German player Marc Zwiebler in a straight set, 21-15, 21-14. This is Lee's fifth title in the tournament.
In the women's singles final, another German Juliane Schenk was also defeated. The workd's number three in the world, was defeated by China's Li Xuerui, the worl'd number one female badminton player. Xuerui won by a three-set match which ended 21-16, 18-21, 21-17
Indonesia managed to win a title through the men's doubles. Muhammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan, the world's number 13, beat South Korea's Ko Sung Hyun and Lee Yong Dae through a straight-set, 21-14, 21 -18.
Ahsan said he was grateful to be able to win a title for Indonesia. He thanked the spectators for lifting up his mood after he felt tired when entering the second set of the match. "Thanks to the supporters, we became more motivated," he said.
