TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Shopee has responded to the warning issued by the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) which sought to ban one of its commercial to be aired, specifically the “Shopee Road to 12.12 Birthday Sale” that featured K-Pop’s BLACKPINK.
The online marketplace managements have further coordinated with parties involved to adjust the broadcasting time of the commercial that can reach a better target audience specifically interested in the annual online shopping discount program.

“Responding to the advices aimed at us, we have coordinated with everyone involved and readjusted the commercial’s broadcast time and have it reach our customers and potential customers,” said Country Brand Manager Shopee Rezki Yanuar today.
Previous reports saw 11 national television stations sent an official warning letter advising them not to broadcast the Shopee commercial that featured BLACKPINK personnel since according to KPI broadcasting commissioner Hardly Stefano, the content contained in the commercial might go against the public decency norm.
