TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Home Affairs Ministry's Directorate General of Politics and Public Administration held a national coordination meeting for the preparation of the 2019 elections, in Jakarta, Thursday. The Director-General of Politics and Government, Soedarmo, said the meeting aims to create synergy between the central and regional governments and all relevant parties in carrying out their duties.
"In order to create a peaceful, favorable, and sustainable democracy," said Soedarmo.
He said the meeting is an implementation of Law No.7/2017 on General Elections, which states that elections must be independent, honest, fair, legal, orderly, open, proportional, professional, accountable, effective, and efficient.
"That way, the simultaneous elections in 2019 can produce national leaders and people's representatives who have strong legitimacy and beliefs in carrying out their duties," he explained.
The meeting was attended by the governor, regents, mayors, members of the police, representatives of government associations; including the APPSI, the ADPSI and others.
