TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Islamic Organizations Friendship Institution (LPOI) appealed to the election participants not to use Tawheed flag or use religion as a political instrument during the 2019 Election campaign.
The LPOI Secretary General Lutfi A. Tamimi said the use of Tawheed flag in the campaign is potential to trigger friction between the supporters of the election candidates.

“Later, there will be a war because of the Tawheed flag. It should not involve religion. You can use the Democratic or Golkar flag, but don’t use the Tawheed flag,” he said at the LPOI office, Central Jakarta on Saturday, November 17.
According to Lutfi, no one uses the Tawheed flag to campaign in any country in the world. He also advised the government, especially the General Election Commission (KPU), the Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu), and the National Police (Polri) to act decisively on the use of Tawheed flag during the campaign period.
Lutfi reasoned that it was to avoid the incident such as the flag burning in Garut, West Java, some time ago. He allowed the election participants to carry a flag, as long as it is not a Tawheed flag.
