TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani said that the state budget deficit had declined. As of August 2017, the deficit was Rp220 trillion.
"The state budget deficit as per August this year was Rp150 trillion," Sri Mulyani said at the House of Representatives (DPR) building on Monday, September 10.
The minister said that the decline indicates improvements in the state budget posture.

"We seek to remain careful in maintaining fiscals, as during these times of uncertainties, we need a state budget that can ensure the economy is sound; stable and with a balanced allocation and distribution," the minister said.
Sri Mulyani added that one of the factors that kept deficit low was the solid increase in state revenues. As per August 31, there was an 18.4 percent revenue increase, coupled with a 16.5 percent tax growth.
