TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati resigned from the campaign team of Joko Widodo and KH Ma'ruf Amin, the presidential candidate pair.
According to the Head of the Communication and Information Services Bureau of the Finance Ministry, Nufransa Wira Sakti, Sri Mulyani’s resignation was at the request of President Jokowi.
“President asked the Finance Minister to focus on current state’s tasks,” Nufransa said on Tuesday, August 21.
Sri Mulyani was previously included in the list of Jokowi - Ma'ruf Amin’s campaign team, including the Vice President Jusuf Kalla and the Head of the Presidential Staff Office General Moeldoko.
According to Nufransa, those names are still temporary. “The list has not been set and is still temporary,” he said.
Jokowi’s request for Sri Mulyani to resign was caused by a very dynamic global economic condition. “The management of the State Budget (APBN) and State Finance requires full attention from the Finance Minister,” he said.
On Monday, August 20, the Secretary-General of the political party supporting Jokowi - Ma'ruf came to the General Election Commission (KPU) to submit the name of the National Campaign Team management.
Besides Sri Mulyani, there are a number of names of ministers such as Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Puan Maharani, Industry Minister Airlangga Hartarto, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Head of the Presidential Staff Office Moeldoko.
