TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The former Jakarta Governor, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok, received a partial remission on Indonesian Independence Day. As many as 1,141 inmates received partial remissions, and 13 prisoners received free remissions.
“Ahok received a partial remission of two-month detention period,” said Head of Cipinang Penitentiary Class 1, East Jakarta, Andika Dwi Prasetya, on Friday, August 17.

Ahok's remission is in accordance with Article 14 (1) Letter (i) of Law No. 12 of 1995 on Correctional related to remission rights (reduction of penalties) for prisoners.
The Ministry of Law and Human Rights gave remissions to 12,976 inmates throughout Indonesia, 2,200 of them received free remission on Independence Day.
