Indonesian Badminton athletes Tontowi and Liliyana

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia`s mixed doubles pair Tontowi Ahmad / Liliyana Natsir will face Malayasia`s Tan Kian Meng/Lai Pei Jing in the second match of the group stages of badminton Dubai Super Series 2017. They expect that the victory in their previous match will make reaching the semifinals easier.

In their first match, Tontowi / Liliyana were forced to play a rubber game by England’s Chrish Adcock/Gabrielle Adcock in a match that lasted 62 minutes ending with the scores 21-18, 18-21, 21-14.

“We actually knew each others’ style of play; we tried to enjoy [the match] and be focused,” Tontowi said.

It was the tenth win secured by Tontowi/Liliyana against the Adcocks in fifteen matches between them.

Aside from Tontowi / Liliyana, other Indonesian shuttlers will also compete in Dubai Super Series 2017. Marcus Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya, who won their first match, will take on Japan’s Takeshi Kamura/Keigo Sonoda. Meanwhile, Praveen Jordan/Debby Susanto will face China’s Zheng Siwei/Chen Quinchen.
