TEMPO.CO, Semarang - Social Politics Faculty lecturer at Universitas Diponegoro Semarang, Muhamad Yulianto, thinks that Perindo’s sudden change in supporting the current Jokowi-Kalla administration is for the personal safety of its Chairman, Hary Tanoe.
“Even though they claim it is to develop the party’s base, it’s mostly driven by Hary Tanoe’s personal safety,” said Yulianto on Thursday, August 3. Yulianto argues that Hary Tanoe might feel as if he is being left out.

Hary Tanoe’s political stance often changes direction, according to Yulianto, it can be seen from his political track record. Hary Tanoe was once a member of the Nasional Demokrat party or Nasdem, he then moved to Hanura, and finally, he established his own political party.
The online and print media owned by Hary Tanoe used to criticize the government. “Journalists that should have been critical will face a dilemma between their journalistic idealism and the owner’s political interests,” Yulianto said.
